Library

I love doing work in the library, because I have no other choice but to work.

the key to working well in the library is watching what you put in your bag. If you put lots of fun little things, like a stress ball or candy then you are less likely to work than if you put only work in.

My personal theory is that students live a life of work and play that is extremely relative and based in the moment:
if i am in my room, and i could do a number of things ranging from dancing by myself to doing my homework, i am probably going to stay closer to the dancing by myself side. If i am in the library and my choices range from posting to working on my german language project, i will probably post because at the time, it seems like a relatively fun thing to do.

Autechre

I love my album. I knew i would. something told me to pick it.

I wanted something i really really wasn't familiar with. I also wanted something that my musical training wouldnt affect my listening of, so the really trippy electronic-ish sounds of autechre were perfect.

you guys should definitely check out a couple of these songs:

Rae
Melve
Vose In

So far, i think Rae is probably my favorite, but anything could happen
After many many days of not posting, today I am posting!!!!!!!

I don't even know why I don't ever post. It truly is an interesting phenomenon. I think it probably has something to do with the fact that Greg allows us to post a certain number of times, and it doesn't matter when.
I actually have 1 other class that I have to post in, and I have only posted 5 times in that class the entire semester (I do only have to do 10 posts though).

Interesting.

lipstick traces

Lipstick traces, which has been patiently sitting among my other books, finally made its first appearance today. I pulled it off my shelf, wiped the dust off of it, and for the first time since I purchased it, I cracked open the spine and dust swept into my face. After recovering from this disastrous event, i recovered my senses and took a look at the cover. I know never to judge a book by its cover, but i was intrigued by this cover. the man on the front seemed to crazily invite me into his book, and slowly i fell under a trance that caused me to want to read the book. Luckily, steffan saved me and prevented me from reading the book or learning anything...thank you steffan, you are my savior and I wish i was you...you're so cool.

Weather

I like the weather here in Philadelphia, it is sunny and beautiful outside much more often than at home in Detroit. I feel like it helps with the cold a lot when it is sunny and beautiful. I personally believe that the weather greatly affects mood, and while cold can make someone unhappy, most of the time we are indoors looking out at the weather, and the barometric pressure (which studies have shown can make people feel tired during spells of bad weather) is more affected by cloudiness and precipitation than temperature. Helps with the cold to think about these things.

How I asked a girl to prom

I wanted to share the way that I asked my date to prom senior year. I asked my friend who I was doing my senior speech with, which is an optional speech that seniors can give to the rest of the school to share wisdoms they have learned. Our speech originally involved playing the drums on stage (which later changed), but you need to know that for this to make sense. I told her I had a new idea for the senior speech and told her to read this:

NEW IDEA:

Ok, it begins the same. We are both sitting at our drum sets on stage. I begin playing before you start talking (small difference). Then you say your beginning thing. Then there is a short pause where I do a little drum fill (it lasts like… 4 seconds, just to show that you are done). Then you start playing your drums before I start speaking. Then I do my little speech while you play, and again I do a little fill at the end of mine to show that I am done, then we begin with us both talking, when we get up from our drum sets and walk to the front of the stage. And then I admit that I actually don’t have a new idea, I just needed you to read this so I could ask you… will you go to prom with me?

you know what feels great?

Laying down when your back hurts and you've had a long day. The fact that we can do that is great.
